How have y’all been???
Welcome to another beautiful Friday edition of the lighthouse!!!!
Thanks so much for your continual support. You are indeed the fuel to our engine
And if it’s your first time here, I’m literally rolling out the red carpet for you!!!
Remember the story told of two young friends, Richard and Roberts, who while walking down the road one day, met a weary looking old man. They decided to get him some water to drink and he was very grateful to them. As they were about to leave, the old man stopped them and told them he had the gift of prophecy and said Roberts was destined to be great and wealthy while Richard was destined to be poor and wretched.
Roberts was so excited and decided to wait for the greatness and wealth to come to him while Richard decided to work hard instead, to keep body and soul together at the very least.
Guess what? Reverse was the case!!!!
From the above story, we see how we are the only ones to be held responsible for the outcome of our lives.
Our government may be nothing to write home about and you may silently wish you get the chance to change systems.
You may have made some mistakes in the past that has somehow made you believe that your future would have to turn out a certain way.
Your family background may have been quite dysfunctional and you may be so convinced that if God had given you the chance to make your choice, things would have turned out differently.
JAMB might have literally shoved your course of study down your throat and you may keep wondering, if things would have been better if you were handed what you desired.
Yes, I know and understand these things. And even though, we can decide to blame people, circumstances and situations all we want, because really, they deserve it, the utmost and one of the most liberating truth is “the outcome of our lives is totally dependent on us”.
And that’s why we can’t allow these “limitations and barriers” to hold us captive as they operate by building a cage in our minds that keep us trapped, making us believe we are helpless and a “Nazarene”.
But we can choose to break off and break through; a day at a time
We can choose not to continue to wallow in self-pity and self-doubt.
They may be our present realities but they should never determine our future realities.
Yes, I know its not a walk in the park.
Neither is it an easy peasy thing to do.
But remember, we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
It may a require a whole lot of discipline and intentionality from us, we have to be ready to pay the price regardless.
No one is coming to save anyone (after Christ though), no Prince Charming and definitely no “Professor”
We can’t afford to sit around doing nothing, hoping that someday, things will miraculously turn around for the better or hoping that somehow our troubles, regrets and pains will suddenly disappear.
Not all of us will win BBN and automatically become millionaires and definitely not all of us, will become Otedola’s in-laws.😂😂
We’ve got to get to work and stop the “should-haves”, “if-onlys”, “shouldn’t-haves” right on their tracks. The word says “Show me your faith without works and I will show you my faith by my works; For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without work is dead also.
I’m not here to give you panic attacks, or anxiety pangs or even judge you. I’m here to help you realize that taking responsibilities for our lives doesn’t always have to start from the seemingly big things like launching a million-dollar business or preparing your passport to leave the country.
It’s in the supposedly small things like our daily routines (praying, reading, getting relevant information, meditating and confessing God’s word regardless of our circumstances when we should), getting required help (speaking up in the case of emotional healing), showing up on days when we don’t feel like, saying “No” when we should, taking charge of our thoughts, feeding our focus and shutting out distractions.
Just incorporating one thing into your daily routine and intentionally carrying it out could be the game changer for your life and you remember the quote that says “Success is where preparation and opportunity meets” right???
More often than not, our future is what we make of it and it’s not largely dependent on our course of study or the socio economic status of our family background or past mistakes or bad governance.
Sometimes, the reason behind we not taking responsibilities is, we would rather shy away from the issue and let life go by rather than sit and think deeply about how we can navigate through our situations and take actions.
We have been called to a life of Dominance and not a life of subjugation. We are not called to be victims of our circumstances, rather, we have been called to a life of victory!
I leave you with the words of DDK that says:
“Leverage yourself, Fine tune your gifts, Discover your strengths. Sharpen it. Serve with it. Intern somewhere. Volunteer. Read books. Ask questions. Start small but grow. Get up from that Netflix and take meaningful steps forward”
Remember, you are the CEO of your life (You even get to choose if you want God in it or not)
90% of the outcome of your life depends on you and not some failed system!!!!!
Thanks you so much for taking out time to read!!!
